Some merchants outside the United States offer cardholders the option of converting card transactions by visa or by the merchant himself into U.S. dollars. If the latter option is chosen, the conversion rate is determined exclusively by the merchant participating in the transaction and the bank does not charge a conversion fee for the transaction.
